Farewell David Norton FCA

From the Chair of the Board of AVCAT – Major General Bill Crews AO (Retd)

David Norton FCA

David Norton joined AVCAT in 2011 as the Alternate Director nominated by Legacy Australia. He brought with him a lifetime of experience both in Legacy and as a highly- qualified accountant. Predictably, David found himself Chair of the Finance Committee which subsequently merged with the Risk Committee to form the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. David then took over leadership of the combined committee for the remainder of his time on the Board.

AVCAT has much to be grateful for David’s diligence and competence. His forensic application of financial knowledge has been of enormous benefit in ensuring that the Board is always mindful of the delicate financial situation under which we operate. His advice was always carefully considered and appreciated, while not always being fully adopted for other reasons.

Board members and key staff saw David as a good friend and colleague, and appreciated his classic British humour. After 10 years of dedicated service to AVCAT, he deserves to now enjoy retirement, having decided to not seek renewal of his appointment in September 2021. We wish him well for the future.
